Shreveport (La.) Calvary Academy three-star defensive back Shun Brown has been turning plenty of heads this summer, and on Friday he put on a strong performance at Mississippi State's Big Dawg camp.
The Bulldogs have been among Brown's top college choices along with Arizona and Pittsburgh, and following the camp it was easy to see the Bulldogs helped themselves in Brown's eyes.
"It was a great environment," Brown said. "I came here to learn more about the school and I wound up loving it. They have a great complex. I love the way they have things set up here and they have Dak (Prescott), who's from my area, and I saw him today and it really boosted their stock up."
The Bulldogs landed eight commitments on Friday including several top prospects, and Brown admits it was hard not to pull the trigger himself.
"It was hard," Brown said. "It was very hard. I love coach (Deshea) Townsend."
While Brown did not commit, the Bulldogs are one of two programs who have moved into the lead in his recruitment.
"It's still the three schools and pretty much the same old, same old with Mississippi State and Arizona at the top," Brown said.
What is it about Mississippi State and Arizona that put the two schools at the top of his list?
"When I went there on a visit for the Alabama game it was a great atmosphere. It's an SEC atmosphere," Brown said. "Then I went to the camp to see how they coach. Coach Townsend, to see the way he coached. I loved the way he coached and that's why Mississippi State is one of the top programs.
"Arizona, I heard it's a great school to go to and I want to get to know them more as the season goes along. I know they're a spread offense."
This week Brown plans to attend LSU's camp in Baton Rouge. During the season he plans to take an official visit to Arizona, and he could possibly take official visits to Pitt and Mississippi State as well.
Brown plans to announce his decision around the mid-point of his senior season, and he intends to enroll early at the college of his choice.
