Two Big Ten & ACC programs doing a good job with 2019 ATH Dean Engram

Dean Engram is one of the highest profile recruits in the Mid-Atlantic and his recruitment is in full swing. The son of former NFL and Penn State wide receiver Bobby Engram is about to finish up his junior season at Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

"I believe I’m up to ten offers now," Engram said. "Penn State, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, and N.C. State are just a few of them.

"Recently I went to Penn State’s game against Michigan," he said. "I met with coach Gattis, coach Franklin, and coach Smith. They showed me a lot of love. I really like how their season is going so far. They took a couple losses recently but they’ve been playing well.

"I have an inside connection at N.C. State because Max Fisher from Gonzaga is going there now and he’s told me a lot about the team," said Engram. "He came back a couple weeks ago and he was telling about how the team is doing and college. He gives me a lot of good things to use to handle the process.

"I wasn’t surprised by Wisconsin’s success this year," he said. "I think they are back to back champions of their division. I had a good conversation with the cornerbacks coach. He told me they run a lot of man coverage. I know coach Chryst very well and how their defense plays.

"Most of my offers are as an athlete but I talk to coach Wiggins, the wide receivers coach at Virginia Tech, almost weekly and I now Sean Savoy pretty well," Engram said. "He’s having a great season. Coach Wiggins says they need playmakers like me and that gets me excited. That’s a big option for me."

RIVALS' REACTION…

Engram's versatility is very appealing to college coaches. He has excelled with the ball in his hands and is a physical presence in the secondary with a nose for the ball. Penn State certainly has the inside track considering Engram's dad was a star there in the mid-1990s. Virginia Tech, N.C. State, and Wisconsin are clearly in the conversation as well and it will be a while until Engram ends his recruitment. A number of other schools will likely jump into the race before then.
