Tuscaloosa DT getting looks

Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Central defensive tackle James Brown is getting plenty of attention during the early portion of the 2008 recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-2, 285-pounder is getting looks from multiple programs throughout the Southeast, which is good because that's where he wants to stay.
"I don't have any offers right now," Brown said. "I am just getting looked at by a couple of schools."

Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Clemson, Arkansas and Middle Tennessee State are among the schools showing early interest.
"Location is going to be important," he said. "I want to stay in the South. The football atmosphere stands out."
Brown commented on a couple of programs that he likes.
"Probably would say LSU is standing out right now," Brown said. "(Alabama) is cool. It's right around the corner from where I live because I go to Central Tuscaloosa and all."
Versatility is something that Brown feels he will bring to any collegiate defensive line that he is a part of.
"With my size, I am able to play any position on the defensive line," he said. "I also believe that I am fast for my size."
So fast that he competes in the 100-meter dash, along with the shot put, for the Central High track and field team.
Brown attended the Rivals.com Junior Day last Saturday at Lovejoy High in Hampton, Ga.
