Turner surprised by first offer

One scholarship offer could be joined by others for South Garland (Texas) High School receiver John Turner.
Missouri became the first official offer for the 5-foot-11, 195-pounder who says that when he started his high school career as a freshman, he didn't think that recruiting would go this fast.

"I didn't think it would be like this," Turner said. "I guess all my hard work is paying off. After Missouri offered, then Baylor and Kansas State look like they're going to do something. They could be close."
Iowa State and Oklahoma State are two other schools that Turner says he gets consistent interest from.
"We're thinking about going to the Kansas State spring game, but we're not sure about it yet," Turner said. "Coach Bruce Walker from Missouri, I called him after my offer and he wanted me to come up there this summer too."
Turner says that though recruiting has just started, he'd like to have a decision made somewhat early.
"I'm not sure why, I just want to get it done," he said. "I think it will probably be before the season."
Turner says that he has no favorites yet.
