Turner playing the waiting game

Amid all the recent speculation about where quarterback Ben Olson will commit, one other signal caller waits patiently to see how things will play out. No other player will be as affected by Olson’s decision as West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade’s Chris Turner.
Turner, 6-4, 200 pounds is a very talented signal caller and is having a strong senior year. We loved Turner at the EA SPORTS Elite 11 workouts in Las Vegas and were equally impressed with his senior film. On the year, the quarterback has thrown for 1,661 yards and 13 touchdowns in eight games with four more scores rushing.

So why is Turner so interested in what Olson decides to do? Simple, the word on the street for some time has been Turner is the next quarterback in line to get a scholarship offer from UCLA. However, UCLA is waiting on a decision from Olson, the top quarterback nationally three years ago, before they move on Turner.
“Coach Svoboda (UCLA QB coach) called my coach this week and said they would be calling me shortly here to let me know where things are at,” Turner said. “I mean, they call every week but this time, they’ll be calling to specifically discuss the Ben Olson situation. I really have no clue right now what Ben is going to do or how long it will be before he makes his decision.
“I’m just being patient right now but it would be nice to know where things are at. If UCLA offered, there’s a good chance I would jump on it. If Ben commits there, at least I’ll be able to move on and focus on other schools. I mean, I’m not waiting around for UCLA, I’ve set up some trips and a couple of new schools have started to recruit me.
“Louisville offered me recently and I’m going to visit there (Dec. 10). I also have a trip to UTEP set up for (Nov. 12). LSU came by the school this week and they offered me a visit for some time in January. They also told me to expect something special from them in the mail. Now I don’t know if that’s an offer and I don’t want to get my hopes up or anything so I’ll just wait and see what it is when it comes.”
Turner will be attending the UCLA- Washington State game this weekend. There’s also speculation Olson will be in attendance as well so Turner could know sooner rather than later what his future has in store for him.
