Tulsa to be first trip for juco LB

Los Angeles (Calif.) Pierce Junior College linebacker Alain Karatepeyan has picked up interest from several schools recently. The three-star rated prospect is scheduled to make his first official visit this weekend.
"I have a visit to Tulsa this weekend," the 6-foot-2, 245-pound Karatepeyan said. "They've been recruiting me for about a week. I call it the four-day recruitment. They asked for film. They watched it. They offered me. Then they called and asked me to visit and tomorrow I take off."

The trip to Tulsa is the first for Karatepeyan, but may not be the last before signing day.
"Texas Tech has been on me, too. They haven't offered me a trip or a scholarship, but they said they would be getting back to me. I'm waiting for a call from Southern Cal. They asked for a tape on Saturday and they had it on Tuesday. They are waiting to see who all is coming back. I should know in the next week what they are thinking."
Two other schools that had expressed interest earlier Kansas State and Northwestern have both decreased their interest apparently.
"Northwestern and Kansas State haven't called me back, since they asked for tape earlier. I don't know what they are doing, since I haven't talked to them. Right now, I have a few others I am looking at."
Karatepeyan plans to sign a national letter-of-intent on Feb. 2.
"I want to sign on the 2nd," he said. "That is the plan. I can get this weekend trip in and may take one more, then I'll decide."
