Tulsa, Baylor close to offering LB

With two players already heading off to the Division I ranks, Cedar Hill, Texas, coach Joey McGuire believes that a third is about to earn a scholarship and join the other two. Meet outside linebacker/defensive end Jeff Neslon, a two-star prospect.
Nelson, who is 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, is close to earning scholarship offers from both Baylor and Tulsa with the Golden Hurricane offering as quickly as later this week.

“At first Missouri was really high on him,” McGuire said. “But I think they ended up getting a commitment from a guy they had a little higher on their board. I know that Tulsa told me earlier that they’re going to offer him this week, and he would be excited to get an offer from them. Baylor’s also talking very seriously about it, too.”
Nelson played defensive end for Cedar Hill this season, but with his size he likely projects as an outside linebacker.
“He’s kind of a tweener,” McGuire said. “If he’s an inch taller, he’s a guy that everybody wants. If he’s going to play end he’ll have to be a speed guy on the edge, but he did play linebacker as a junior, so he knows what it takes to play there.”
