Tulane gets pledge from Texas LB

Tulane has gone to the state of Texas for another commitment in the 2007 class. This time it comes from East Bernard (Texas) High School sleeper athlete Derek Wilson.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder has played a variety of different spots for his high school team since his sophomore year. Wilson lined up as a running back, wide receiver, linebacker, defensive end, cornerback, free safety, among others. Wilson, who committed to Tulane not too long ago, says that he was being recruited as an outside backer - where he sees himself.

"Tulane was the only school to offer, but they liked me on defense," Wilson said. "My uncle and my mom both liked the school. Plus, they're rebuilding and they'll have all new facilities when I get there."
"I like Tulane and I'm solid to them. I'm all done."
The two-time first-team all-district selection as a running back for both his sophomore and junior years, says that he was also hearing from Rice, SMU, and TCU. Wilson says that what makes hm special is the fact that he can play all over.
"I've been all over the field and done a lot of stuff," he said. "I just see myself as an outside linebacker though."
