Tuifua commits to Ducks

Oregon is off to a hot start in the current recruiting cycle and that momentum has carried onto the next one, too.
Three-star weakside defensive end Langi Tuifua committed to the Ducks on Thursday, choosing to end his recruitment for the second time in the last year or so. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound prospect from South Jordan (Utah) Bingham had been committed to Utah until this past spring.

"Oregon has been my dream school and I've really wanted to go there, but my dad wanted me to wait first to make sure I was making the right choice," Tuifua said. "But I talked to my coaches, my family and this is where I want to go.
"I committed to Utah early and it was good to have choices. That was a main thing for me. Ever since a couple coaches from Utah that were recruiting me there left, it was kind of hard to stay with it."
Tuifua chose Oregon over various other offers, including Oregon State, BYU, Louisville and Boise State.
"I was fortunate to have the options, but I love everything about Oregon," Tuifua said. "From the facilities, to the coaches, to some of the things I'm thinking about majoring it, everything was big.
"I also had a great relationship with coach (Erik) Chinander. He wants to put me at linebacker and I have been working at that position a lot this offseason. The thing about the linebackers there is great."
Tuifua, one of the region's top defensive ends in the 2017 class, intends to shut down his recruitment and said he would start to recruit his teammate, four-star defensive lineman Jay Tufele, to join him at the next level.
"I'm not sure about keeping my options open and I'm looking forward to visiting Oregon for one of their games during the season," Tuifua said. "Jay and I have been working a lot in practice and it would be great to play with him in college."
Tuifua had 79 total tackles, including four sacks, to go along with three caused fumbles as a sophomore last season.
