Tufele bags USC offer

Jay Tufele won't wait long to check out his newest option.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pound defensive tackle from South Jordan (Utah) Bingham landed a scholarship offer from USC on Monday and already has plans to visit Los Angeles next week during spring break.

Tufele, one of Utah's top recruits in the 2017 class, holds seven offers and appears to be just getting started. He performed well at the Las Vegas Rivals Camp Presented By Under Armour last month and has seen his stock rise in recent weeks.
The Trojans became the latest to join the race.
"It's really humbling just being a sophomore and getting all this attention," Tufele said. "I'm really grateful for the USC offer. I've loved watching them play ever since I was little, and it's really humbling that they would offer me. It's a big school for me. It definitely stands out right now and I'm looking forward to my visit to see how the coaches interact with the players and to get a feel for their defensive line."
USC will be the first stop in what could turn into a very busy couple months for the physical lineman. Tufele said he might check out some other schools this summer and he's already set to compete in various camps.
Tufele also has offers from BYU, Louisville, Oregon State, Utah, Utah State and Washington. He has garnered additional interest from Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt.
Though he said he doesn't anticipate making a quick decision, Tufele added he won't hold off if a school fulfills all his criteria.
"Whenever I get that feeling, and whatever helps me and my family the most," Tufele said. "But I'm going to be patient and keep weighing all these great options."
