Troy commit gettting other looks

Eufaula (Ala.) athlete Jerrel Jernigan has been committed to Troy since October, but continues to get interest from two in-state programs, including one of Alabama's traditional Southeastern Conference powers.
"Auburn still has interest in me," Jernigan said. "Coach James Willis is coming this week sometime, but they still haven't offered me yet."

Should the Tigers extend and offer to the speedy prospect, there is no question that he would be interested.
"I like their school, coaches, and how they run their offense," he said. "Coach Willis said we'll talk about setting up a visit when he comes this week. They want me to play the slot and coach Al Borges said he'll have a special package for me, too. I look forward to meeting coach Tommy Tuberville and the players. If they offered me, their chances would be pretty high (getting a commitment)."
Another in-state program, UAB, has been involved with the 5-foot-10, 175-pounder.
"Coach Barlow from UAB had an in-home visit with me and I'll visit there the 26th even though they haven't offered yet," he said. "They have a new coach, so I want to ask him what type of offense they'll run, see where I'd play and just get to know him."
So how do things stand with Troy?
"I'm still committed to Troy and I visited them last week," Jernigan said. "That went well, but the coaches over there have known me since the 9th and 10th grade. Troy runs the spread offense and I like that because they'd have me in the slot, but at quarterback sometimes."
Jernigan added that he has eliminated Division I-AA Jacksonville State from contention.
