Trotter takes things slow

Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian quarterback Barrett Trotter holds five offers. The 6-foot-2, 193-pounder continues to hear from numerous other programs. Does he have any favorites?
"I've got offers from UAB, Troy, Duke, Samford and Army," he said. "I'm still kind of evaluating everyone and not trying to narrow things down yet. I'm keeping my options open.

"I wouldn't say I really have any favorites. I'm just looking for good coaches that I get along with and respond to. I'm also looking at the offense they run and a school I like. Location is important too, I'd like to be somewhere kind of close to home."
Although Auburn hasn't offered the three-star prospect, they are looking at him.
"They are staying in touch with me and I'm still on their board," he said. "I'm not sure on a timetable when they'll possibly offer."
Has Trotter looked into taking any visits this fall?
"I haven't really," he said. "I'll definitely do something, but I haven't planned them out."
In the meantime, the Alabama prospect is keeping busy with prospect in preparation for the season opener on August 31st.
"Everything is going really well, we just finished two-a-days," he said. "We've got a lot of guys coming back on offense and defense and it definitely should be a good year.
"I think I've improved too on my ability to read defenses quicker than before and going to the open guy."
