Trojans land a good one

For Covina (Calif.) Charter Oak defensive back Will Harris, his plan was to take his visits and announce his college choice at the CaliFlorida Bowl January 2. After his weekend visit to USC however, the safety said he couldn’t put it off.
“Yeah, I committed to SC,” Harris said. “I wanted to wait but I just knew this was where I wanted to be and didn’t want to put it off any longer. The trip confirmed everything for me. I had been leaning to SC for a few months and this trip, man it was really great.

“My dad and I went down there on Friday and just hanging out with the players and coaches was a great experience. There is such a family atmosphere there and you can just feel the energy. Saturday all the players and recruits got together and everyone was getting all fired up for practice. I was like, if they get like this for a practice, they must go nuts before a game.
“Kevin (Thomas) and I had been talking about committing the whole time so Saturday night at dinner, we both stepped up and said we were ready to be Trojans. Averell (Spicer) and Jason Gwaltney did it as well so there was four of us who all committed. I’m just really excited right now. They don’t have a lot of depth at safety so I think I’ll have a good chance to come in and play early which is something I really wanted to do.”
Harris, the No. 1 ranked safety in the West region, also visited Arizona State and Cal and will cancel a visit to UCLA he had for this next weekend.
