Trip West was impressive for CB

The nation’s No. 3 cornerback Donte Whitener has been one of the most difficult players in the nation to reach this recruiting season. But Rivals100.com finally caught up with him on Wednesday night to talk about his most recently official visit – a trip last weekend to USC.

“It was California,” Whitner, who is 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, said. “That alone made it a fun trip. I got to see a lot more there than when I was at Ohio State on my visit.
“We went clubbing and hung out with the players. The best part had to be watching the Lakers game and seeing the girls at the beach. We don’t see that too much here in Cleveland.”
So what about the football side of things?
“Oh yeah,” he said. “That was good too. I think I can come in and compete for early playing time there. Coach (Pete) Carroll seemed like a really honest guy.”
Michigan was in-home with him last night and he said he re-affirmed his visit to Ann Arbor this weekend.
“I’m excited to see what it’s going to be like,” Whitner, a four-star selection, said. “I’m also going to take other visits to Notre Dame (December 13) and Miami (December 20). But I’ll be really interested to compare Michigan against Ohio State and USC.”
