Trio of written offers for Sibiea

Homestead (Fla.) defensive lineman Pedro Sibiea has received three written offers in the mail so far, including one that recently caught him by surprise.
"I was going through my mail and found out I had an offer from the University of South Florida," Sibiea said. "I have also gotten written offers from Cincinnati and FIU. That is it so far."

The offer from Skip Holtz' Bulls caught Sibiea off-guard, as he had previously not counted them amongst his verbal offers. While the offer was unexpected, the interest from the Big East program was nothing new.
"USF was pretty much the first school to recruit me," Sibiea said. "My 10th grade year, right after the seniors had left, I heard from Coach (Vernon) Hargreaves and he said he was going to recruit me. They came out during the spring as well. They have just told me I would be a great fit for their program and the defense. I feel like I have a strong bond with them. I stay in good contact with them."
Another in-state institution that is very active with Sibiea is Florida International.
"FIU is right there, right up the road from me," Sibiea said. "They are always calling (Homestead) Coach (Bobby) McCray to get in contact with me. They are always trying to get me on campus to see how I like it up there and to see how the football program is up there. They have been coming at me real hard. I hear a lot from Coach (Cedric) Calhoun a lot, their defensive line coach, Coach (Frank) Ponce, the recruiter, and the head coach, Coach (Mario) Cristobal, I hear from all of them. They just really want me to come to FIU."
Outside of the Sunshine State, Sibiea is also actively talking to the Cincinnati Bearcats.
"Cincinnati is another school that is really recruiting me hard," Sibiea said. "They are in need of a defensive tackle right now. They love everything about me, that I hustle to the ball, and that I play hard every play. They are looking for defensive linemen up there. I have heard a lot from Coach (Butch) Jones, Coach (John) Jancek and Coach Strip (Steve Stripling). They really want me to take a visit up there and see what is going on up there."
In addition to his written offers, Sibiea also claims verbal offers from Alabama-Birmingham, Florida, and Northern Illinois. He isn't ready to shut out any schools, whether they have offered or not.
"I am still open to all schools willing to offer," Sibiea said. "I wouldn't say I have a leader or any favorites. I am just taking everyone into consideration."
The 6-foot-3, 251-pound defensive lineman is in the process of scheduling some official visits. He knows of a trio of schools he wants to see.
"I haven't set them up yet but I am trying to set up three of them before the week is out," Sibiea said. "I am trying to set up a visit to the University of Alabama, University of Minnesota, and University of Cincinnati."
For the time being, the three-star defensive lineman is focused on preparing for his senior campaign. He said the preseason has gone well so far for the Broncos.
"Things have really been going great," Sibiea said. "I have improved conditioning-wise. I feel I am doing a better job of leading the team and helping out the team. I feel we are doing a good job of being focused and knowing we need to take it game-by-game. We just have to go out there and do what we have to do to come out with a win."
