Tribble turning heads

Southlake (Texas) offensive tackle Lucas Tribble stands in at 6-foot-5 and 270-pounds. Eight scholarship offers are already on the table, and more schools are showing interest.
The Dragons stumbled out of the gate against Austin Westlake, but have regained momentum with a 21-point fourth quarter against Tulsa (Okla.) Union and a 52-14 blowout win over Midland Lee. Tribble, who earned second-team all-district honors, feels like he has seen progress in his play too.

"I think I'm playing a lot better than last year," Tibble said. "This summer I got a lot stronger. I made some pretty good gains in the weight room. I gained 15 or 20 pounds, and it's really helped me a lot. I think I'm playing a lot better."
Tribble is also an accomplished wrestler, and he has seen how the sport has helped elevate his play on the football field.
"I'd say it's helped a lot from a mental toughness stand point, and confidence too," Tribble said. "In wrestling if you go out on the mat and you're not confident in what you're doing you're going to get your butt whipped. It's translated over to football and helps a lot."
Football is the sport he plans to pursue on the college level, and out of the schools who have offered, Missouri State, Dartmouth and Nevada are currently showing the most attention.
Kansas State, UCLA, and Florida have also expressed an interest, and Tribble plans take an unofficial visit over the weekend since Carroll has a bye week.
"I'm going to K-state this weekend to see the game," Tribble said. "They invited me to come down and see the game and take a tour and stuff."
He does not have any other visits scheduled at this time.
Tribble currently holds offers from Central Arkansas, Dartmouth, Eastern Michigan, Liberty, Missouri State, Nevada, Stephen F. Austin, and Toledo.
Next on Southlake's schedule is a Friday night match-up with Abilene on September 25.
