Trautwein commits

Vorhees (N.J.) Eastern Regional offensive tackle Phil Trautwein was expected to make his decision on Thursday. However, he and his coach decided he should take 24 hours to think things over. Now he's finally ready to commit.
"It's official, Phil is headed to Florida," said Eastern Regional head coach Dan Spittal of his 6-foot-7, 310-pounder. "He saw coach Zook yesterday and had his mind pretty much made up, but I wanted him to go home and think things over. Sleep on it, so to speak. When he came in this morning, he was more convinced than ever."

Trautwein chose the Gators over Virginia and Michigan State. He also visited Boston College and Tennessee.
"Virginia was a lure because of their academics and he really liked coach Stoutland at Michigan State, but playing the SEC at Florida, where he has family, and their offensive line situation -- it was too much to pass up. Phil has been a Gator fan for a long time. He attended their summer camp before his junior year. Virginia was a close second.
Trautwein is ranked as the No. 28 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 9 player in New Jersey.
