Mark Pszonak contributed to this report.

The transfer portal never stops grinding. On Wednesday, Ohio State's Jameson Williams, a former four-star, decided to enter the portal and quickly became a priority for several programs.

Recruiting: Williams trimmed his list of top schools down to Ohio State, Alabama, Nebraska, Oregon, and UCLA and committed to the Buckeyes during his senior season. He took an official visit to Columbus during the spring and considered Ohio State his leader throughout the summer.

At Ohio State: Jameson had six receptions for 112 yards and one touchdown during his true freshman season and nine receptions for 154 yards and two touchdowns in 2020.

Potential landing spots: Considering it is his home-state school, Missouri has immediately become a favorite. He is also good friends with Mookie Cooper, who transferred from Ohio State to Missouri a couple of months ago. While plenty of additional schools have shown early interest, Alabama is another one to watch here.

Farrell’s Take: Williams was a skinny but smooth receiver out of high school with great route running ability and good hands. He was tough to get a good hit on because he played angular and always seemed to bounce off tackles with good balance. The depth chart at Ohio State is off the charts so I look for him to head back home and play for Missouri barring a surprise. But some other nice options are emerging.

IMPACT METER

The Transfer Portal continues to change the way college football programs recruit and manage their rosters so we here at Rivals.com continue to evolve our coverage. Each time a player of note enters the portal, we will examine their potential impact on the college football landscape and assign an impact rating, both when they enter the portal and when they choose a destination. The scale is from 1-10 and the description below explains the scoring scale.

1.1-4.0 — Not a big impact expected, likely a non-starter and down the bench depth player.

4.1- 6.0 — A solid impact can be expected in the right scenario and has the potential to battle for a starting job.

6.1-9.0. — A high impact player who won’t change a program but will certainly be a very good contributor and starter.

9.1- 9.9 — A very high impact player who should start the moment he steps on the field and will change the outlook of a program immediately.

10 — A franchise transfer who has a chance to be an All American and one of the elite players in college football.
