Transfer gets noticed

Many times when a player transfers from one school to another they could get lost in the shuffle. That doesn’t seem to be the case for one East Bay athlete.
Safety/wide receiver Patrick Henderson (5-11, 175, 4.5) played his junior season at Berkeley, Calif., high school where he was selected second-team all-area and first-team all-league as a safety.

Henderson racked up 59 tackles, four interceptions and one fumble recovery in 2003. He didn’t see a lot of action as a wide receiver but he was productive when he had the chance. Henderson caught three passes for 97 yards and one touchdown with a long of 72 yards.
Henderson will be playing for Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds in 2004. He will live with his Dad who lives in the McClymonds district.
McClymonds head coach Alonzo Carter is very happy with the arrival of Henderson.
“Patrick is a great two-way athlete,” Carter said. “He could end up on either side of the ball for the D-I level.”
With Henderson joining McClymonds there will be a reunion of lifelong friends Henderson and McClymonds quarterback Kyle Reed.
The duo have known each for a long time and even played Pop Warner football together.
Look for Henderson to see a lot of action on the offensive side of the ball in 2004.
Reed and Henderson should give McClymond’s one of the best batteries in Northern California.
Though Henderson has moved from Berkeley and is now attending McClymonds the colleges haven’t missed a beat according to Carter and Colorado, Cal, Oregon, Oregon State and Washington State have sent correspondence.
