Traditional powers lining up for Sanguinetti

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- Some prospects have late-developing recruitments. Joshua Sanguinetti is not one of those prospects.

The Rivals100 defensive back is a class-of-2019 prospect but already lists offers from a long list of traditional powers that would happily accept his commitment even at this early juncture. The South Florida-based Sanguinetti became a national prospect at warp speed, and now he’s sifting through his options.

“Right now, I’m talking to Stanford a lot,” Sanguinetti said. “I’m talking a lot to Stanford, Miami, Michigan and Florida. Oh, and FSU. Those are the ones for now.”

A junior at Ft. Lauderdale’s University School, Sanguinetti plays both receiver and cornerback on Friday nights. It seems likely that he’ll stick to defense at the next level but, at least for now, some schools are keeping the positional door open

“Right now, most people want me at DB, but at Miami and Stanford they want me at wide receiver and DB,” Sanguinetti said. “I’d do both if I could.”

Sanguinetti is yet to narrow his list or name favorites. He hasn’t put much time into that stuff. What he is considering, however, is a list of visits. He has no specific dates in mind, but some destinations are more appealing than others.

“I want to visit Michigan, Miami again, FSU, Florida and LSU,” Sanguinetti said.

Sanguinetti says he won’t consider distance from home when it comes time to make a decision. Instead, he maintains that early playing time and academics will be the two most important things on his checklist.

LSU, Michigan and Miami are in most frequent contact with with Sanguinetti for the time being but, according to the four-star cornerback, it’s the way the Michigan coaching staff interacts with him that stands out.

“With Michigan, the whole coaching staff talks to me. It’s cool. We’re in, like, a big group chat.”

A Rivals100 member, Sanguinetti has set no timetable for a verbal commitment. It’s unlikely that one will come this season.
