Tracking down a rumor

In late May USC received the pledge from linebacker/tight end Rob Lewis (6-5, 215, 4.55) of Van Nuys (Calif.) Montclair Prep. Since then Lewis has received offers from Stanford, Washington, Washington State and Cal.
There was a rumor going around that Lewis may be wavering from his commitment. Pac10Recruiting decided to get the lowdown on this talented player.

“I was 100% committed to USC,” Lewis said. “But now I’m 90%. I always wanted to go to Stanford. It is my dream school. When USC offered and showed me how interested they were in me I decided to commit.”
“I will more than likely stay with USC. I really like Coach (Pete) Carroll.”
Lewis was a one-man wrecking crew as a junior when he piled up 172 tackles, eight sacks, four fumble recoveries and two picks. On offense as a tight end, Lewis caught 17 passes for 197 yards.
The potential of this young man is tremendous. He has strong hands and long arms. Though Lewis likes to play tight end, his potential to be an all-world linebacker will see him line up on the defensive side of the ball on the D-I level.
USC head coach Pete Carroll was key the recruitment of Lewis. The key in keeping this recruit if the Trojans are really challenged by Stanford will be Carroll.
“USC coach Pete Carroll was the first the first to show up at practice and he really showed an interest in Robert,” Montclair Prep assistant coach Michael Edwards.
This one could turn into something very interesting between the two private schools in the Pac10. Pac10Recruiting will be keeping tabs on Lewis.
One more before you go:
Montclair Prep has another player who more than likely will end up getting a D-I ride in free safety/wide receiver Anthony Davis (6-4, 185, 4.55).
Davis is a super athlete who is also drawing interest for his skill on the hardwood as well. “Anthony is very athletic and may be the best athlete on the team,” Edwards said.
Davis has real long arms and moves real well. He’s a very fluid athlete.
As a wide receiver, Davis caught 11 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns. On defense as a free safety, Davis racked up 37 tackles and two interceptions.
UNLV, Nevada, Fresno State and WSU are showing interest.
With a strong senior season, look for Davis to see his stock rise…
