Missouri City (Texas) Ridge Point played Thursday night, so 2015 Rivals250 to Watch linebacker Cameron Townsend took the opportunity to check out a few college campuses over the weekend.
His travels took him to the Pacific Northwest with trips to Oregon and Oregon State. The first stop on the tour was Corvallis, where he camped this summer with the Beavers. Townsend already holds and Oregon State offer and the visit didn't disappoint.
"Oregon State is a great environment," Townsend said. "The coaches are cool, the redshirt players I was interacting with were cool, and they won. I really enjoyed my time there."
"Their uniforms are pretty cool. I even got to try a jersey on. Also the way they let the recruits interact. I got to meet a few new people."
He was also impressed with the number of people tailgating in the rain. Following the trip to Oregon State, it was time to head to Eugene to check out the Oregon Ducks. Townsend was not able to meet with coaches or tour the facilities, but was able to get a feel for the atmosphere.
"It was cool - definitely a different environment," Townsend said. "It was a bit more high-profile/Hollywood there. The players kind of carry themselves a bit different, the fans seem a bit more outgoing. I still had a good time watching the game."
In addition to his recent stops in Oregon, Townsend also attended the Texas-Kansas State game on September 21. Next on the schedule is an unofficial to Oklahoma for the Sooners match-up with TCU on October 5.
Townsend currently holds offers from Baylor, Houston, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Texas, USC, and Utah. He has not named a leader at this point in the recruiting process.
