Torrey Ball makes a decision

Milledgeville (Ga.) Georgia Military College defensive end Torrey Ball made his choice earlier today. Who did the 6-foot-4, 250-pounder commit to?
"I committed to Coach Adkins at Syracuse earlier today," he said. "He was surprised and then we talked for awhile about football and everything.

"Then I talked to Coach Marrone. We talked for awhile too."
What made Ball pick Syracuse?
"It's getting late in the process and Syracuse is a great place to be," he said. "It's a crazy time in college football, things are getting changed. There are a lot of coaches going in and out, Coach Marrone and his staff just got in and I think my career will end with that coaching staff. That is always good. I like the school and the system.
"The school was a big part for me. It's a really nice school, especially for business. It's a quality education and to get a degree from Syracuse means something. That meant a lot to me."
The coaches were a factor as well.
"They were real with me every step of the way," he said. "I think Coach Adkins was the best recruiting coach in the nation. He put it out there and was real. That's the one piece of advice I'd give to any recruit. They have to be real with you and you have to be real with them. Coach Adkins was 100%. He gave me the opportunity and I couldn't pass it up."
As far as playing time, Ball will have three years and could see time early.
"I am coming from JUCO and will have three years once I enroll this summer," he said. "Everything at Syracuse is wide open. I know in college football anything is possible. I have to come in and work."
Ball had final thoughts on his choice.
"I got a great opportunity and a great school," he said. "I feel like I'm the lucky one in this decision."
