Keenan Robinson is one of the top 100 players in the nation, and he was one of the first players in his recruiting class to make a commitment. He pledged to the Texas Longhorns on Feb. 25. The early decision has kept him out of the national spotlight for most of his senior season. However, he'll get a chance to show the nation why he's considered one of the best players in the country in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl.
"I was pretty excited about the game when I got the invitation," Robinson, who is 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, said. "I was especially excited since it was a game that Rivals.com was involved with. As soon as I found out that Rivals was involved with it, I knew I was going to play in it for sure."
Robinson's also excited about the chance to play in the Jan. 4 game in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., because it'll be carried live on ESPNU.
"That's another thing that got me excited," Robinson said. "I'm looking forward to also meeting all the other players and see what they look like. I plan on going out there and showing how I use my speed to my advantage. I like to fly around and make plays, and when I get to the football I like to make things happen."
Robinson said he has not wavered on his early pledge to Texas.
"I was a big Texas fan ever since I moved here," Robinson said. "I wanted to go to Texas all along. I had always watched them on TV, and when they offered it didn't take long for me to make my decision. I felt comfortable with Texas. The Texas coaches made me feel like I was part of the family.
"It was a pretty easy pick."
It was also an easy pick for Robinson to be part of the West linebacker corps.
"It's a big honor, and I can't wait to get down to Florida," he said.
