Top relationships leading R250 WR Dylan Wright's recruitment

KENNESAW, Ga. – Not that he’s looking any worse for the wear, but Rivals250 wide receiver Dylan Wright may have been in a rush to get back onto the field this summer following a toe injury that eventually forced him to get surgery to repair it.

“It feels good,” he said. “I’ve been going to therapy every Tuesday and Friday. It’s sore because I have to bend it, and my toes don’t normally bend anyway, they’re kind of stiff, so they’ve been sore but now I just have to ice them and I’ll be good.”

One thing that he doesn’t seem to be in such a hurry about is wrapping up his recruitment and making a commitment.

He’s had the spotlight on himself for months now, often donning Texas Longhorns garb when showing up for workouts or events and his look on the first day of the Pylon 7-on-7 National Championships was no different, as a Texas hat sat perched atop his head for much of the afternoon. On Day 2, however, he was playing in Georgia gloves, and had plans to visit the UGA campus following the tourney.

“I really haven’t been worried about [recruiting] because I have been trying to get in shape,” he said. “I went to Alabama yesterday, I was talking to Coach (Jeff) Banks and I like them, but that’s a business school. If I go there, it’s got to be all about business but I want to go somewhere it could really be a family.”

Another SEC team in Texas A&M seems to have made a move towards the top of his considerations as well. Wright made an appearance in College Station just over a week ago for one of the Aggies major prospect camps, to which he gave high marks to his experience.

IN HIS WORDS

On Arkansas

“I’ve been up there a couple of times but I am going to find a way to get back out there again,” he said. “I just want to ball – it doesn’t matter where, I just don’t like the cold. I don’t care about where other receivers are going, I’m just coming to take that spot, it doesn’t matter if you’re a senior or not, I see an opportunity (at Arkansas).”

On Texas

“I always talk to Coach Drew (Mehringer) like, daily,” he said. “I haven’t always had as much time because I’ve had [spring] football and once I was getting home, I was going to sleep. I think they wanted me out there this weekend for the [Heat Wave] pool party, but I’m going to make it up some time – I don’t even know when, but I’m going to make it up.”

On Texas A&M

“Coach Jimbo (Fisher), that’s my boy,” he said. “Let’s just say that he doesn’t talk to you like a head coach. He told me that he needs me – and he doesn’t just go off and tell people that he thinks they’re a first-round pick just like that. That let me know in my mind that I have to show them some love.”

“(Fisher) told me that he’s getting me the ball,” he said. “He said that he doesn’t care who the quarterback is, he’s going to get me the ball because he knows that I am going to come in and work. It’s like he knows me, and he said he hasn’t seen many receivers like me.”
