One of the top prospects to visit Cal this past weekend, Austin Jones has gotten to know the program and the coaching staff well.

He likes what he sees.

The four-star running back from Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O’Dowd had another excellent visit to Berkeley as the Golden Bears attempt to keep the local star home.

It’s going to be tough with so many schools involved but Jones was once again impressed by what he saw on campus.

“They said that they really want me and that I excel on and off the football and that I am the right guy they recruit for Cal,” Jones said.

One of the biggest reasons why the Golden Bears have a chance with Jones is because of his relationship with Cal’s coaching staff.

The Bishop O’Dowd standout has liked what he heard from coach Justin Wilcox and others and it could be a big selling point as things move forward.

“Everyone around here loves me and they want to see me succeed on the field as well as off the field,” Jones said.

“The coaches said they see me as an all-down type of back where they can use me also in the passing game.”

No other visits are planned yet for Jones, who rushed for 1,560 yards and 23 touchdowns in his junior season. He also caught four TD passes.

So far, the four-star running back has been offered by Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State, Tennessee, UCLA, Utah and Washington.
