Hand made the initial announcement on Sunday afternoon via Twitter, saying:
"I will be committing on Nov 14 at my school. Can't wait to get this over with!"
Contrary to popular belief, Nov. 14 is not an arbitrary date.
"November 14 is my eighteenth birthday," Hand said Sunday night.
Everyone will be watching for Hand's official visits in the coming months.
"My Michigan visit is planned for Sept. 7 to see the Notre Dame game," said the 6-foot-4, 248-pound Hand. "I don't have any other visits planned. I will visit Florida and Alabama, but I don't know when yet.
"I want to do these visits to fill in the blanks on each school," he said. "The main factor right now is if I can live there."
Hand had been showing interest in USC and LSU but it does not sound as if they are being considered anymore.
"I just decided that there is no need for all of this to get drawn out," Hand said. "I was interested in USC and LSU but I know a lot about Michigan, Alabama and Florida and I'm just going to let them be."
Hand was named the top lineman at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge Presented by Under Armour at Soldier Field in Chicago.
