Top Performers: Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas

Recruiting wrap: Emmons is committed to Alabama.
Performance: Crimson Tide fans should be very excited about Emmons. He has the power to run with toughness between the tackles, the vision and experience to know when and where to cut back and the speed to get to the edge of the defense. Emmons can take it the distance from anywhere on the field while making defenders miss along the way.

QB
Austin Kendall
Waxhaw (N.C.) Cuthbertson
Recruiting wrap: Kendall is committed to Oklahoma.
Performance: During the week of practice, Kendall was a little up and down but he put on an outstanding performance in the game on Saturday. Only two of his 17 passes hit the ground. That's difficult to do in practice, let alone a game setting. Kendall's only error in the game was sailing a throw on a slant that turned into a pick-six. His quick release and decision-making skills translate very well to the college level.

DB
Troy Pride
Greer, S.C.
Recruiting wrap: A former Virginia Tech commit, Pride is considering North Carolina, Notre Dame and N.C. State.
Performance:Pride got off to a fast start in practice and didn't really slow down. His length and ability to anticipate helped make a lot of plays on the ball. In the game, Pride had a key pass break up on a deep pass. Colleges love that Pride is a bigger cornerback with above average speed and good technique.
5
OL
Landon Dickerson
Hudson (N.C.) South Caldwell
Recruiting wrap: Right now Florida State seems like the leader for Dickerson but Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Florida are still in contention.
Performance: Dickerson is a big-time talent and his ranking is justified by his technique and natural abilities. There wasn't a defensive lineman fast enough to beat him around the edge or strong enough to overpower him. Dickerson is an excellent pass blocker and did a good job driving his man off the ball on running plays. The North Carolina offensive coordinator had Dickerson pulling a lot and he made some key blocks at the second and third levels for his running backs.
6
WR
Larry Collins
Hopkins (S.C.) Lower Richland
Recruiting wrap: South Carolina, Wake Forest, East Carolina are Collins' most likely destinations.
Performance: Collins got better as the week went on and his combination of size and speed was too much for many defensive backs to handle. He made some very impressive catches during the week and was one of the favorite targets for the South Carolina quarterbacks. Collins was fairly productive in the game, making four catches, scoring one touchdown and gaining 55 yards.
7
LB
Xander Gagnon
Charlotte (N.C.) Charlotte Catholic
Recruiting wrap: Gagnon is committed to Duke.
Performance: The speed of the game caught Gagnon a little off guard on day one, but he quickly adjusted and became one of the most reliable defenders on the North Carolina team. He has great size, athleticism and moves very well in the open field. Gagnon was good at anticipating the play, breaking up multiple passes, and was a very effective blitzer off the edge.

OL
John Simpson
North Charleston (S.C.) Fort Dorchester
Recruiting wrap: Simpson has Clemson, LSU and Florida in the mix.
Performance: Simpson is absolutely massive and extremely strong. He can get a great push on the defensive line and open up running lanes for his running backs. He is a good pass blocker as well. Simpson has an excellent first punch that knocks defenders off balance but he also has the lateral agility to stay in front of the defensive lineman. He holds up very well against bull rushes because of his strong base.
9
DT
Nyles Pinckney
Seabrook (S.C.) Whale Branch
Recruiting wrap: Pinckney is committed to Clemson.
Performance: There wasn't an interior defensive lineman that was more active than Pinckney all week. He played with great leverage and his hand techniques were violent. Pinckney was able to keep offensive linemen guessing because he used a number of pass-rushing techniques. In practice, he used an impressive spin move that left offensive linemen wondering what just happened.
10
RB
Jordon Brown
Durham (N.C.) Southern Durham
Recruiting wrap: Brown is committed to North Carolina.
Performance: Brown was dominant during the week of practice because he creates a lot of mismatches. He was too fast for linebackers or safeties to cover him when he lined up as a slot receiver and he was able to consistently beat linebackers to the edge when he took a handoff out of the backfield. Brown was particularly effective running seam routes up the middle of the field. The quarterbacks found him wide open there a number of times.
