Top Offense: Battle at the Beach

Recruiting wrap: Collins is still waiting for his first offer.
Performance: Finally healthy after a couple setbacks, Collins looked excellent on the outside in Mater Dei's offense as he torched cornerbacks down the sideline, across the middle and on short and deep routes. The three-star has excellent hands as he plucked the ball out of the air and he has surprising speed to go along with his impressive 6-foot-4 frame.

WR
Tyler Vaughns
La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat
Recruiting wrap: Vaughns is scheduled to announce his commitment next month, and though USC is considered the heavy favorite, the four-star wideout intends to visit Georgia and Alabama this upcoming weekend.
Performance: With the way he looked Saturday, the state's top-rated wide receiver might not be moving from his spot. Vaughns was smooth in his route running and repeatedly beat safeties over the top on go routes.

WR
Trevon Sidney
La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat
Recruiting wrap: Sidney is committed to USC.
Performance: A lot of credit should go to the Bishop Amat play-caller for utilizing Sidney in a variety of ways. The four-star receiver was up to his old antics Saturday as a downfield threat, but also did damage on underneath routes from the slot. Sidney was a matchup nightmare and made some great catches in heavy traffic.

WR
Michael Pittman
Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian
Recruiting wrap: Pittman is committed to USC.
Performance: The lanky wideout did a lot of his work near the goal line and used his size to his advantage, going up for high throws but also boxing out defenders to gain create space. Pittman also played some safety and covered well near the line of scrimmage.

QB
JT Daniels (2019)
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei
Recruiting wrap: Daniels is just entering his freshman year.
Performance: Daniels only took a few reps as he split time with another quarterback but almost every throw we saw was a strike right to the receiver and Mater Dei's offense flowed so smoothly with him under center. Will he start at the vaunted program as a freshman - following in the footsteps of Matt Barkley? That is still unknown but Daniels has a tremendous arm and great accuracy for someone so young.
7
WR
Isaiah Diego-Williams
Gardena (Calif.) Serra
Recruiting wrap: Diego-Williams is just getting started with the recruiting process.
Performance: A transfer from JSerra Catholic, Diego-Williams should be able to free himself up more because he won't be the only focal point in the offense. Serra is loaded at receiver and Diego-Williams is a nice addition because he's small and sneaky but also fast with great hands. More than a few times, Diego-Williams broke free down the seam or took a short pass for extra yards.
8
ATH
Zion Echols
Covina (Calif.) Charter Oak
Recruiting wrap: Echols is committed to California.
Performance: The three-star prospect proved to be a headache for linebackers that tried keeping up with him on wheel routes, and Echols also showed a good change of direction as he made catches and shifted his momentum to turn up field.
9
TE
Colby Parkinson (2017)
Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian
Recruiting wrap: Parkinson holds early offers from Tennessee, Washington and Washington State and continues to garner looks from locals UCLA and USC, among others.
Performance: Back in action following a nagging ankle injury, the promising tight end prospect moved well down field and had a strong day through the air. Parkinson caught everything that was thrown his way and, like his teammate Pittman, had a size advantage in the red zone.
10
ATH
Brandon Burton
Gardena (Calif.) Serra
Recruiting wrap: Florida State will get an official visit and Burton plans to visit Arizona and Stanford in the coming weeks.
Performance: One of the best two-way players in the country, Burton was useful at times at receiver scooping up poorly-thrown passes and stretching the field with his speed down the sidelines. On defense, Burton knocked away passes and he does an excellent job reading the quarterback's eyes and then going up and making a play on the ball.
11
RB
J.J. Taylor
Corona (Calif.) Centennial
Recruiting wrap: Taylor has offers from a few programs, including Arizona and Washington State, and he plans to visit the Wildcats later this month.
Performance: On one play, the all-purpose back left a couple defenders picking themselves off the grass while he sped up the sideline for a big gain. Taylor isn't the biggest prospect, but he's very elusive and reliable as a pass catcher.
12
QB
K.J. Costello
Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic
Recruiting wrap: Costello is committed to Stanford.
Performance: Though a bit inconsistent and perhaps too predictable with the ball in his hands, Costello got by with his superior arm strength and was able to fit throws into tight windows. He anticipated coverages well, looking off the safeties for some long completions.
13
QB
Matt Corral (2018)
Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian
Recruiting wrap: Corral is new to the recruiting process but has already drawn attention from UCLA.
Performance: Despite his youth, Corral was one of the more impressive quarterbacks in attendance. He did well to look off defenders, but also showed the arm strength to fire the ball to the far sideline and the timing to be accurate on crossing routes.
14
WR
Anselem Umeh
Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco
Recruiting wrap: Boston College, Fresno State, Washington State and others have offered Umeh so far.
Performance: For a few years, Bosco has been supremely loaded at the skill positions and things have not changed but now's the chance for Umeh to show he can play high-level college football. Last summer, Umeh shined at a few events and that was the case again on Saturday as he went deep for some impressive catches and was regularly a main target in Bosco's offense. Umeh can play - now he just needs to consistently bring it each time he's on the field.
