Top LB enjoys ND visit

Notre Dame played host to nearly three dozen recruits this weekend including some of the top players in the country. One of those was Rivals100 to watch linebacker Steven Filer from nearby Chicago (Ill.) Mount Carmel.
"I was up for the visit today," he said. "It was a real nice visit. I went on some tours through the academic center, toured the campus including checking out the Golden Dome and Touchdown Jesus. It was real nice to get back up there. I hadn't been since they played Michigan last fall.

"The main difference was that I saw a couple new coaches including defensive coordinator Corwin Brown. He wasn't there before."
On the visit, Filer met with a few of the coaches.
"I sat down with coach Weis and spent a lot of time with coach Brown," he said. "Coach Brown talked about their defense, while Charlie Weis talked about the recruiting process and things like that. My father and I met with him.
"I can say it was a real nice visit. I saw a couple prospects that I didn't know before including Darius Fleming which was nice too."
Did the visit result in the Irish leading for the linebacker prospect?
"Nobody really leads right now," he said. "I'm still getting so many offers here and there. I'll evaluate them all when I have to."
Later this spring, Filer is considering making unofficial visits to Northwestern, Ohio State and Michigan.
