Wade, who led Parkview High School to a Class 5A state championship as a
junior, is still awaiting his first scholarship offer, but knows he's got a
golden opportunity ahead of him.
"I'm anxious to know who will offer," he said. "But I'm
really looking forward to the camps this summer so I can show what I can do."
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Wade plans to attend one-day
camps at Florida and Middle Tennessee and full camps at Georgia and Georgia Tech
this summer. He said he has no set favorites, but has been getting the most
interest from Georgia, Florida, Duke and Middle Tennessee of late. Others who
have shown interest to date include South Carolina, Clemson, Virginia, Alabama
and South Florida.
As a junior, Wade passed for 2,100 yards on 101-of-155
(65 percent) accuracy. He tossed 26 touchdown passes with only five
interceptions and added 210 yards rushing with five TDs on the ground.
"I've been working on my speed and footwork a lot during
the offseason," he said. "I feel like everything's fine with my arm. That's the
biggest thing I'm concentrating on now."
Wade has been warming up for the summer camp circuit by
playing with his Panther teammates in an area 7-on-7 league.
"We play every Tuesday night," he said. "It's a lot of
fun getting to play against other schools in the offseason, plus it gives us a
chance to learn the plays better and get on the same page with your teammates.
It's great for a quarterback."
