Top flight JUCO TE is on the move

One of the best tight end prospects on the JUCO level is without doubt John Lyon (6-6, 250, 4.6) from Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California. He has literally grown into the position. Lyon was a 6-foot-5, 205-pound wide receiver out of Carmel, Calif.
Since his growing spurt he is now sought after by D-I schools from coast-to-coast.

“Every school in the nation wants him,” Saddleback College Mark McElroy said. “He’s a superb athlete and has great hands.”
The proof of Lyon’s ability is in the pudding. He has offers from Washington, USC, LSU, Oregon, Oregon State, Tennessee and Florida.
Lyon is rapidly becoming the complete tight end. He has improved his blocking skills a great deal and when you add that to his considerable pass catching skills you recognize why he is such a hot prospect.
Lyon was on an official visit to USC and was one of the many big time prospects who there to watch USC spank Notre Dame. Though he a nice trip to SC he did not commit.
Lyon said he doesn’t have a favorite but he admitted that he has a soft spot for Washington.
“I like Washington because they are loyal,” Lyon said. “Washington has been there for me since the beginning.”
Lyon will visit Washington on December 13th.
Lyon will visit Oregon State for a mid-week visit December 8th, 9th and 10th. LSU is next in line as Lyon will visit the campus in Baton Rouge on December 20th. Tennessee is also scheduled to get a visit but the date hasn’t been set yet.
Lyon already has his AA degree and graduates in December. That is why he is expediting his visits. He has 2x2 years of eligibility.
