Top five breakout candidates: Mid-Atlantic

Spring evaluations allow for under-the-radar prospects to emerge before their senior seasons. Here are five prospects from the Mid-Atlantic Region who should see interest rise.

Current offers: Alabama, Boston College, Rutgers, Massachusetts

The skinny: Dalton committed to Boston College in mid-February, but Alabama offered in early March. Since then, Dalton has taken a couple visits, including Rutgers and Penn State. Earlier this week he announced his decommitment from Boston College and many more offers are surely ahead. The talented tight end has elite athleticism for a player his size. Dalton creates matchup nightmares all over the field and it doesn't look as if anybody can cover him on film.
WR
Kelvin Harmon
Palmyra, N.J.
Current offers: Rutgers, Boston College, Syracuse, Temple, Old Dominion

The skinny: Harmon is in a tough situation. His high school isn't very good passing the ball, but he makes the most of the few chance he gets in games to make plays as a receiver. Harmon plays with one of the best 7-on-7 teams in the country during the offseason and is considered the top receiver on the team, taking full advantage of that opportunity. He has visited a number of schools while traveling with the 7-on-7 team and has visited some of the nearby schools. This should be an exciting spring evaluation period for him.
OL
Alex Motley
Morristown (N.J.) Morristown Beard School
Current offers: Rutgers, Boston College, Virginia are interested but have yet to extend an offer

The skinny: Motley has exceptional athleticism for a 6-foot-6, 275-pound player. He is very agile and has shown the ability to be a punishing run blocker. Strength doesn't look to be a problem for him and it will be good to see where he is as a pass blocker this offseason. Many schools are looking forward to having him on campus and participating in camps. Motley could end up with more than 10 offers.
OL
Lucas Niang
New Canaan, Conn.
Current offers: Penn State, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Connecticut, Massachusetts

The skinny: Niang has been making the rounds as much as he can, but it is difficult for prospects in New England to get noticed. He is starting to build a pretty good offer sheet, but it is far from what it should be. Niang has a ton of potential and could end up being a cornerstone on a college offensive line. He recently visited Penn State and Rutgers, but those are the only ones. Spring and summer camps will be big for Niang to show what he can do.
