Junior To Watch: Carl Howard
School: Matawan, N.J.

Position: Defensive tackle
Size and speed: Howard is 6-foot-5, 285 pounds and has run a 4.8-second 40-yard dash.
Honors: All-division
Statistics: Last season he made 68 tackles with six sacks, eight tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and one caused fumble.
Favorite schools: Right now Carl has Rutgers as his leader. He’s also listing Penn State, Michigan State, Florida, Boston College, Virginia and Wisconsin as others he is interested in.
Skinny: Many are comparing him to last year's five-star recruit, Nate Robinson, of Irvington, N.J. Carl is massive, very quick and flies off the ball. With a maximum bench press of 330 pounds and a 4.8-second 40-yard dash, he has the potential to be a big-time player and should expect many offers before the end of the summer.
“I was at the Rutgers Junior Day and I loved it. I’ve been to Rutgers a bunch of times and I feel really comfortable with the coaches and the players.”
Carl's dad played football for Rutgers in the early 1980s and went on to play for the Dallas cowboys as a defensive back.
“My dad is a believer in the new coaches at Rutgers and so am I.”
Carl is not sure if he will camp anywhere this summer.
