Top Defense: Battle at the Beach

Recruiting wrap: Parker is just getting started with the recruiting process.
Performance: Parker was active at linebacker, surveyed the field well and then used his long arms to poke away passes or come up in coverage and make a play. This was probably the most active we've seen Parker this offseason and with his long, lanky frame he can run with receivers and make it difficult for them all over the field.

CB
Myles Bryant
Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola
Recruiting wrap: Bryant is planning a trip to Colorado soon and he plans to make his decision in the next few weeks. Washington could be out in front.
Performance: Bryant is undersized but he's so intelligent and crafty that he knows exactly where to be to make plays over and over again. The three-star prospect is outstanding in coverage, never bites on double moves and is physical enough to stay right with receivers and battle for deep balls. Bryant was even used on offense on Saturday because he's a playmaker who hits the field and is always productive.

DB
Jamal Hicks
Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne
Recruiting wrap: Colorado State, Hawaii, Nevada, San Jose State and UNLV have offered.
Performance: Hicks has tremendous length as a defensive back and he covers a lot of ground quickly so it came as no surprise that he picked off a handful of passes throughout the day. The three-star is really quick twitch so he can cover receivers well and he has tremendous athleticism to go up and make a play on jump balls.

ATH
Curtis Robinson
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei
Recruiting wrap: Robinson is committed to Stanford.
Performance: The four-star prospect closed well on ball carriers and also covered receivers from the linebacker spot. Robinson was physical within the first five yards, not allowing receivers to get free and making plays on the football to prevent completions.

CB
Camryn Bynum
Corona (Calif.) Centennial
Recruiting wrap: Bynum is committed to California.
Performance: The three-star corner wasn't tested much because receivers rarely gained any separation. Bynum was sticky in coverage, moving his feet well to stay with opponents but also deciphering routes well.

CB
Troy Warner
San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills
Recruiting wrap: Warner is committed to Oregon.
Performance: Warner has excellent size and ranginess but also enough speed to play cornerback to shut down one side of the field. There is no question the four-star Oregon pledge could also move to safety and be just fine patrolling the field from there as well. At corner, though, Warner is physical at the line, he turns and runs with receivers and then he has the length to knock down passes.

CB
Daniel Brown
Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne
Recruiting wrap: Hawaii, Nevada and UNLV have offered so far.
Performance: Brown helped lead Narbonne to the Battle at the Beach championship. The three-star has not gotten enough credit for his abilities this entire offseason. He's a really sticky corner who stays with receivers all over the field and then he has the athleticism to come up and tap the ball away. Brown can also turn and run down the sidelines with receivers and he has the presence to make a play on the ball at the right moment.

DB
D.J. Morgan
Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco
Recruiting wrap: Morgan decommitted from Arizona State on Saturday and is now open to all options.
Performance: Early in the day, Morgan had a couple interceptions and that really set the tone for Bosco's defense. They're young and hungry and Morgan is a veteran in the secondary who can go and make plays and use his athleticism, height and speed to his advantage. Because he can be a two-way player, Morgan has nice hands and seems to know what receivers are thinking as well.
10
DB
CJ Pollard
Gardena (Calif.) Serra
Recruiting wrap: Pollard just committed to USC this past week.
Performance: Pollard did not make as many plays as some other defensive backs we saw on Saturday but he also wasn't tested nearly as much because he covered up receivers so well. The four-star is surprisingly physical at the line, he has great length to stay with receivers and he can also come down and play in the box, which is impressive.
