Top all-purpose back solid on LSU

It seems like an eternity since we’ve heard from one of Louisiana’s top prospects, Morgan City Central Catholic star Jerald Watson.
The three-star all-purpose back, rated No. 4 in the nation at his position by Rivals.com, gave a commitment to LSU way back in early February, and he says that verbal remains strong.

“Oh yeah, I love LSU,” he said. “I keep hearing from a bunch of other schools, but I’m rock-solid on them. I’m very happy with that decision, and I’m just trying to concentrate on my senior season now.”
Watson declined to list the other schools still showing attention because “I’m definitely going to LSU. It’s the perfect place for me.”
Watson (5-11, 205, 4.35) is one of the nation’s fastest players. In addition to football, he’s an elite track and field performer with a pair of national indoor records in the 60-meter dash. He's also a legit Major League Baseball prospect.
In his three years at Central Catholic, he’s used that explosive speed to rush for 5,100 yards and 45 touchdowns.
Last week in a jamboree at Plaquemine, he carried the ball 14 times for 98 yards and one touchdown. He also caught one pass for 10 yards.
This week, the Eagles get under way for real against Patterson.
“I feel like I’m better than ever,” he said. “I put in a lot of hard work this summer. I’m also healthier than I’ve been in a long time. I had an old wrist injury where I had broken my left wrist three times. It always used to bother me. I could never carry the ball in my left hand. But now it’s fine.”
