Top 3 for 4-star Elder

According to four-star defensive back Chaz Elder of College Park (Ga.) Banneker, he is trying not to make a commitment too soon nor too late.
"I'll probably do it sometime in August," he said. "I don't want to wait too long. But I don't want to make it early and make the wrong decision either."

Right now, three schools stand out.
"In no particular order, my top three is UGA, South Carolina and Vanderbilt," Elder said.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder offered a brief comment about each.
Georgia: "I like the coaches. Me and [head coach Mark] Richt have a good relationship. I like the fact it's in state. My family can go see me play. Plus, a couple of my family members went there."
South Carolina: "I like the campus, and the defense they run. It's similar to what we run now. Me and my position coach, Coach [Lorenzo] Ward, have a good relationship."
Vanderbilt: "I like the campus. They're building a new indoor facility and it's going to look nice. They're also building a new academic center. From what I've been seeing, the program is good. I like it."
According to Elder, he has visited each school at least once. Vanderbilt is recruiting him the hardest, he said. The Commodores like him at safety; Georgia and South Carolina project him as a corner.
LSU, which also has offered, is another team under consideration.
"I'm still open," Elder said.
At this time, no future visits are scheduled, but Elder said it's possible he could fit in a few more trips before he makes his choice.
What factors are being considered?
"Playing time, where I'd be at on the depth chart and my relationship with my position coach," Elder said.
