Top 2020 prospect lands dream offer from Pac-12 school
Geirean Hatchett called it a dream come true.
The offer he received from Washington recently is huge but Hatchett is still working through the early stages of the recruiting process since he’s a 2020 offensive lineman.
But he’s from Ferndale, Wash., and there’s no question landing an offer during an unofficial visit from the Huskies is huge.
“My family and I met with coach (Chris) Petersen and coach (Scott) Huff in coach Petersen’s office,” Hatchett said. “Coach Petersen just told us all about “Built for Life” and a lot of his philosophy around the football program and the university in general.
“He said that he’s done a lot of research and looking into me and thinks that I would fit in great with their program and then he said they were going to offer me a scholarship.”
During a recent visit to Oklahoma, the Sooners were first to offer the 6-foot-5, 265-pound standout. It was definitely exciting and the Big 12 power will be considered through his recruitment.
Landing an offer from the Huskies was definitely something special - and something he won’t soon forget.
“It is really big for me to get an offer from the University of Washington because as a kid growing up in this area you imagine yourself playing at Husky Stadium,” Hatchett said.
“I’m still really young and only a sophomore in high school so to have two really big programs like Oklahoma and Washington offering me is really humbling. I plan on taking my time over the next one to two years in seeing what all my options are and make the best choice for me and my family.”
