RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. - It is super early in the recruitment of Elias Ricks but the 2020 prospect has a dream school.

“USC for sure,” Ricks said recently at Ground Zero 7on7 Media Day.

“It’s my mom’s alma mater and I always grew up watching USC football. I’m keeping it open but it would have a big impact on my recruitment.

“They came out to my school and we talked. It’s really just a big school and I’m trying to keep in contact as much as I can. They haven’t been in contact with me like that, not yet.”

Plenty of other schools are all over the Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei defensive back. So far, Ricks has landed offers from Boise State, Cal, Colorado, Florida, Louisville, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Oregon, San Jose State, UCLA and Utah.

Most recently, Louisville, Colorado and Florida have offered the 2020 standout. Prior to that it was Ole Miss and Cal and there is definitely interest in both of those programs for various reasons.

“(Ole Miss) is an SEC school and I always dreamed of playing on a big stage like that so being in the SEC is a really big thing for me,” Ricks said.

“I was one of the first players to get the offer (from Cal) in the class of 2020 so it’s really big. I have a good relationship with Gerald Alexander, the DB coach. I call him like every other day so that is a big impact.”

New interest is coming in from USC, LSU, Stanford, Washington, Houston and others.
