2019 Bishop Dunne athlete Marquez Beason is just the latest prospect from a school that has had plenty of success developing young talent.

Beason’s recruitment has caught fire this spring and he enters his junior season with an impressive offer list filled with top programs from around the region. While he’s still in the early stages of figuring out which teams might be the best fit for him, he at least has an idea about what he’ll be looking for as he starts making visits, starting with Nebraska’s spring game.

“Im looking at what kind of education I can get first,” he said. “Then I’m looking at the family aspect of the coaches and how they treat the players and how they interact with the players.”

Beason plans on making the trip with fellow 2019 teammate, safety Brian Williams.

“I’m just trying to get a better look at the program,” he said. “I just want to get to know the coaches a little better.”

Nebraska offered Beason on the same day in early March as Notre Dame. He said in addition to those two, Texas A&M has been more heavily involved with recruiting him as well. Head coach Kevin Sumlin has already spent some time talking to him and Aaron Moorehead stays in regular contact as well.

IN HIS WORDS

On Notre Dame

“I go to a prestigious, catholic, high school and Notre Dame that kind of catholic college, so there are some similarities there,” he said. “That’s a great program that has a great tradition from the past years.”

Texas A&M

“I really like the coaching staff and that’s just a great program,” he said. “They just put out great players every year. I think Coach Sumlin is just a great man and he’s up front.”

RIVALS REACTION

Beason isn’t shedding any real light on anything just yet and he kept things pretty concise with his thoughts about the schools involved with his recruitment. He guessed that Texas might be the next school to offer him and he’s had come communication with Derek Warehime, but otherwise, he still has much to learn about the schools that have offered him thus far.

Beason didn’t see as much time on the field at receiver last season as one would think after looking at the programs that have gotten involved with him, but his talent isn’t in question and he should be a playmaker on both sides of the ball for Dunne this fall.
