Top 2012 receiver sees recruiting rise

Class of 2012 wide receiver Romond Deloatch is one of the top names in the mid-Atlantic. The 6-foot-5, 206-pounder has yet to land his first scholarship this season, but has schools from across the country already looking.
"Things are going pretty well," he said. "Virginia is kind of on me the strongest right now as well as the North Carolina schools. Virginia Tech hasn't really come at me like that yet.

"I'm getting mail from Duke, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee, Florida State a lot, Rutgers, Syracuse, Liberty, East Carolina, a couple letters from Florida and LSU."
Deloatch took his first fall visit recently.
"I just got back from Duke," he said. "The campus was nice. They had nice facilities. Their football team is kind of young still and not really good like they are in basketball. It was nice. You got to have good grades to go there and I'm trying to make it somewhere not just for football. I do like that Duke throws the ball a lot."
Deloatch is eyeing another trip to Virginia this week.
"I'm going with Caleb Taylor this week to see Virginia play," he said. "I want to see how they do."
Even though it's early, does the Hampton (Va.) Phoebus prospect like anybody?
"I really like Florida State, I'm not even sure why. I just like them."
Meanwhile, this season the jumbo wideout has posted approximately 235-yards.
"It's going good," he said. "The team is doing tremendous, (we) won the last game 70-9. The defense is playing really well.
"I'm playing well too. I'm not getting a lot of touches, but I'm blocking really well for my running back. My confidence this year went way up. I'm catching everything my way and after the camps my maturity level is up too."
While Deloatch mentioned he was getting interest for basketball, his primary focus is football.
