Sean Bailey is one of the nation’s best receiver prospects. And with that recognition, it allows you to get some VIP treatment from college coaches. Well, Bailey recently took a trip out West to visit several schools. So who rolled out the red carpet the best?
“I just got back from my trip to California,” Bailey, a Rivals100 selection from Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton that is 6-foot and 165 pounds, said. “I went to check out USC, UCLA and Stanford.”
And Stanford came away leaving a big impression on the receiver with big-time talent.
“I was really impressed with Stanford,” Bailey said. “It’s such a beautiful campus. I also did realize how successful after football and school their players are. With their academics, you’re going to have so many opportunities to be a success.
“I met coach Kelly and spent some time with coach Teevins. I even met some of the players and got a tour from a few of the guys.”
That tour included hooking up with former Atlanta running back J.R. Lemon, who was a highly recruited player from Georgia just like Bailey.
“He was the one showing me around,” Bailey said. “He said he was really happy out there and I would be, too.”
Bailey said after seeing Stanford that UCLA and USC really “couldn’t compare” and are no longer on his list. It’s a list that includes a top three and a longer list of impressive suitors.
“The trip really didn’t speed things up for me, but it did push Stanford up there with Georgia and Florida State,” he said. “Stanford is definitely up there with those guys. After that, I’m looking at Clemson, Texas and Florida. All but FSU have offered me.”
Bailey said at this point now that his trip is over, football again is his main focus.
“Our practices start on July 22,” he said. “It’s time to get ready.”
