Tooley picks in-state BYU

Maxwell Tooley saw a thrilling BYU victory last week and slept on it a few days before deciding it was the place for him.
The four-star safety from Bountiful, Utah announced his college choice Wednesday night, committing to the Cougars over several other scholarship offers.

WHAT'S NEXT?: Though the likes of California, Oregon State and Utah were in the running, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect said he is completely shutting down the recruiting process and won't take any other visits. He intends to schedule his official to BYU soon.
IN HIS WORDS: "The biggest reason why I chose BYU is because I've always been a big fan and I just loved everything about it," Tooley told Rivals.com. "The atmosphere at the Boise State game last week was one of the coolest things I have ever experienced.
"I wanted to stay in state for college, too, so that was a factor. It will be nice for my family to come watch me play every home game."
RIVALS' REACTION: Tooley also camped with Stanford earlier this summer and had been mulling other potential stops, but last week's exciting finish helped BYU tremendously as the Cougars landed four-star cornerback Troy Warner and three-star quarterback Keaton Torre as well. Tooley has the traits to slide between strong safety and linebacker, and he said BYU plans to use him in a versatile role in its defense in the future.
