Ton of talent at Houston Westside

Houston's Westside High School has produced several Division I athletes over the past several years including LSU's R.J. Jackson, TCU's Marcus Jackson and UConn's Michael Smith. The next two seasons look bright for the Wolves as it relates to recruiting.
Linebacker Eric Dago has verbally committed to Utah, but three other prospects are emerging. Three-time, all-district receiver Kevin Brooks is on pace for a 1,000 yards season, and is hearing from the likes of Fresno State, Southern Mississippi and Tennessee. The 6-foot receiver is the favorite target of junior quarterback Otis Seals.

"Kevin is a Division I receiver and has had a tremendous career at Westside," coach Mark Byrd said. "He's got great hands, great speed and runs great routes."
A pair of converted safeties have shown that they can play on the Division I level. Seniors Keith Davis and Chris Redmond both stand 6 feet 1 and are likely cover cornerbacks at the next level.
"Both of these guys are getting looks from Division I schools," Byrd said. "Fresno State and Louisiana-Lafayette are very interested. They are downhill players that can cover."
Junior running back Frank Williams rushed for over 1,300 yards as a sophomore and is on his way to a repeat performance this season.
"Frank does a lot with what he has," Byrd said. "He's about 5-foot-9, but has great vision and speed. Colorado State, Houston and Illinois have been sending a lot of mails. A team that needs a spread running back is in the market for Frank."
