Tofa lands first offer

Oregon State head coach Gary Andersen has deep recruiting roots in Utah and the Beavers have certainly prioritized the state since his arrival.
That continued earlier this week when Oregon State became the first program to extend a scholarship offer to West Jordan, Utah, defensive end Alden Tofa, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound prospect in the 2017 class that has also thrived in rugby.

IN HIS WORDS: "My first reaction was a little bit of awe -- but excited more than anything," Tofa told Rivals.com. "There is a feeling of relief, too. The coaches [at Oregon State] like my build but they haven't said much about where they like me besides that they see great potential.
"BYU has been recruiting me recently and I've heard from a couple of other schools, but nothing too serious yet."
WHAT'S NEXT?: Tofa said he plans to take some trips this coming offseason to get in front of coaches and potentially compete in camps to garner more looks. The Beavers, of course, figure to draw a visit at some point down the road as they continue to build a relationship.
