"Today they started calling again," Parkes said on Sunday night. "I got to talk with Miami, Connecticut, and South Florida so far. I've got a few more coaches planning on calling later tonight. I was at work all evening and they kept calling so I told them to call me back later tonight. UCF, Stanford, and Florida I think will be calling me back."
Parkes has scholarship offers from Stanford, UCF, UConn, Duke, South Florida, Rutgers, and Bethune-Cookman. Miami assistant Mark Stoops called on Sunday to inform Parkes the 'Canes are also very interested.
"Miami told me they were real interested in me and they were going to keep recruiting me," Parkes said. "They're going to keep calling me to see how I'm doing. He wants to get me on a visit so that was pretty exciting to know. Earlier I knew they were recruiting me but I didn't think that heavily. Now I guess they're recruiting me pretty heavily. They were the first call I got today actually."
Titusville High School played crosstown rival Astronaut in a kickoff classic last Friday night. The varsity played for a half.
"We lost 7-0 though," Parkes said. "It was a good game. We saw some good signs and we also have some things we could work on. This Friday we play Satellite Beach at home."
Renford stayed at home this past weekend and watched some college football action on television.
"I watched a lot of games over the weekend," Parkes said. "Today I watched the LSU-Virginia Tech game. Yesterday I caught the UCF-Penn State game. I wanted UCF to win. Tomorrow I'm going to watch the Auburn-USC game."
He's made plans to attend one college football game this weekend.
"I'm going to the Florida-Miami game next Saturday," Parkes said. "That's the only game I have setup so far. I want to get up to Tallahassee to watch the 'Noles play but I don't know what date I'll actually go up there. I'm going to definitely be at UCF's first home game. That's about it so far right now."
Renford Parkes believes he will be making an official visit to Palo Alto, Calif. sometime after the season. He has an idea of other visits he will probably take.
"The only visit I have setup so far is Stanford," Parkes said. "I don't have an official date yet but I think I'll go in December sometime. I want to visit some of the Florida schools but I want to visit some out of state schools just to get a feel of something different. I'm going to visit a mixture of in-state and out of state schools so I can get a feeling of where I'll feel comfortable and maybe see if get the feeling of living out of state and see how I would like it. Stanford-- I'm definitely going to take that visit. UCF and Miami-- probably those two also."
Favorites?
"My top two is still Stanford and UCF," Parkes said. "I'm putting Miami now in my top five. Stanford, UCF, Miami, Florida, and probably Rutgers. That would be my top five like right now. That will change once more phone calls start coming in and everything like that and I'm seeing where I'm getting interest from."
