Grant Martinez has not received an offer yet from Arizona State but he's planning to return for a spring practice and after visiting for junior day the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame Prep tight end is highly interested in the program.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound prospect said he not only enjoyed the day at Arizona State but really likes the new coaching staff and their approach to what kind of players they're looking for to turn things around.
"It went really well," Martinez said. "They walked us around all their facilities, showed us around the school and pretty much told us what a day in the life of playing football there would be like. They showed us the meeting rooms and we got to talk to our position coach and see all the facilities.
"I definitely liked what the coaching staff was all about because they're looking for character and hard workers.
"Of course, they're looking for talent but they want good people on their football team. I really like the coaching staff and how they're going to approach the season and play for championships."
Martinez, who finished with 36 receptions for 411 yards and six touchdowns in his junior season, plans to return soon to Arizona State and an offer is possible. After talking with the new coaching staff, Martinez said the Sun Devils are high on his list.
"They're very interested," Martinez said. "They want me to come down and see one of their spring practices. They really like my size and my film and they're happy to have seen me in person. I think I could get (an offer) from them.
"After the junior day I really liked ASU so they'd definitely be one of my top choices and they'd definitely be up there so it would mean a lot to me. It would be a big offer for me."
Other than a return trip to Arizona State, the Notre Dame Prep standout said he's planning to visit UCLA and Oregon State soon and he could also stop by New Mexico at some point.
