Davis made an official visit to Memphis on the weekend of Jan. 12.
"I liked it," he said. "The city is a lot like Atlanta where I'm from, I like the people, I like the coaches, I like the dorms, I like everything man."
Greg Jackson was Davis' player host on his visit.
Davis enjoyed talking with the Memphis coaching staff.
"I liked the coaching staff a lot, they warmed up to me well, they wanted me to come in, told me I would be a good asset to the team, so I'm excited," he said. "They want to use me at running back and pound me up the middle.
"I got good vision, good speed, I don't know, I think I'm gonna be good at breaking tackles, getting across the line of scrimmage and avoiding tacklers."
Davis, who competes in the 100, 400 and 4x400-meter relay for his high school track team, will use that sport to help prepare him for competing for playing time at Memphis.
"That should get me in shape for football," he said. "I'm hoping to run some track, maybe run the 100 at state."
Davis is a two-star rated prospect by Rivals.com.
