Tide, Vols lead battle for QB Wilson

There have been some rumblings that Alabama’s top quarterback may be nearing his college decision.
Is that the case?

“No, not just yet,” said Hoover standout John Parker Wilson. “I’m mainly just focused on the playoffs right now. We’re 9-1 and play our first game (Friday) night. I want to take care of business on the field first.”
Parker (6-2, 180, 4.7) has developed into one of the South’s top prospects at quarterback. He’s rated the No. 18 pro-style quarterback in the nation by Rivals.com and has drawn scholarship offers from Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Duke and Middle Tennessee among others.
“I don’t have any visits set right now, but it looks like it will be Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Clemson,” he said. “Alabama and Tennessee are my leaders.”
Asked if it would be hard for the Volunteers to make up for the Crimson Tide’s home-state advantage, Parker said: “Maybe. I don’t know. When I went up there for an unofficial visit, I really liked it. And they’re telling me I can come in there and have a chance to play right away. That’s a pretty big factor.”
Wilson capped his regular season by passing for 2,800 yards and 30 touchdowns with only five interceptions.
Academically, he maintains a 3.6 GPA and has scored a 24 on the ACT.
He also hopes to play baseball at the next level, a bonus for whichever school signs him because he is expected be drafted next June.
