What was it like landing the offer from the defending BCS champions? Cronkrite responded, "It was exciting. I wasn't expecting it. I wouldn't say it was a dream offer, but it's great to have. Hopefully I can visit."
Since September 1 schools like Florida State, Louisville, and Notre Dame have been sending him the most mail.
Last Friday, Anthony Midget from Penn State stopped by his game. The Nittany Lions are very interested in Cronkrite and he said distance won't be a factor.
On Saturday, he went to the Miami-Florida game. When asked about the game? He said, "I thought it was a hard fought game by both teams. I expected UM to win. I thought UM was going to come out hype for the game and they weren't going to let them come in and beat them."
The 'Canes were his dream school growing up, but they have yet to offer. He said they are still evaluating which position he will play before extending him an offer.
Later this fall he is planning to attend the FSU-UM game in Tallahassee. It will be his first time seeing a game at Doak Campbell Stadium. Cronkrite said, "I want to see the crowd because it's UM vs. FSU. Then I want to see how the coaches coach the players up."
Most schools are recruiting him at running back and safety. As a junior, he ran for 677 yards on 86 carries and nine touchdowns while adding 15 receptions for 270 yards and a pair of scores.
This season through two games, he has rushed for 119 yards to go with 64 yards receiving and a touchdown. On defense he has recorded seven tackles and an interception.
He is planning to announce after his senior year. Cronkrite noted early playing time will be a big part of his decision.
